Dogwood's About Us

#DolphinLife

Dogwood is all about celebrating each and everyone of our students and helping them to grow into world changers. Our motto, "All Dolphins Belong," is not just about the school day. Our students are taught to be leaders both here at DES, but also out in the community. We strive to ensure that our staff members, teachers, students, and community are proud to be Dogwood Dolphins, and DES provides a strong foundation for our students to be successful leaders.

"No matter what you are interested, no matter where you come from, Dogwood always makes sure that all Dolphins belong."

Envisions Expo

Each year gifted students from all of GMSD's schools come together to share their research at the Envisions Expo! This event allows students to explore their own interests, sharpen their public speaking skills, and fuel their creativity. This year, topics studied included space pollution, the history of treehouses, dreams of interior design and entrepreneurship, and capybaras.

Hear from our students about their projects, what they learned, and why they chose the topics they did!

Adelyn Winer talks about her coding win

Student Spotlight

Coding Wizard Adelyn Winer

Fifth grade Dolphin Adelyn Winer worked all year long on logic challenges hoping to get the answers done quickly and correct. This Code Wizard HQ Logic Challenge was shared through GMSD's collaborative gifted team. Ms. Cunningham shared this, and Adelyn was so excited to participate!

This challenge teaches students not only how to code, but how to push themselves. Each challenge gives students multiple tries to get the correct answer, and this inspired Adelyn to keep going! She talks about her love of logic and her future plans in this student spotlight.
