AAA Safety Patrol Program
Safety Patrol Girls
Open to 4th and 5th grade students
Mission: To provide a safer environment at Dogwood for our students during arrival and dismissal.
The Dogwood AAA Safety Patrol assists school staff during arrival and dismissal. Patrollers are expected to be at school from 8:20 to 3:55 as part of their daily responsibilities. Patrollers will perform their duties and develop leadership skills and individual strengths throughout the year. Patrollers are role models for their peers and are expected to demonstrate good leadership, responsibility, academic progress, character, dependability, and maturity. 
Financial cost: $45 to cover t-shirts, belts, badges, and two annual parties

Art Stars
Art Society
 
Open to 4th and 5th grade students
Mission: To provide an opportunity to try different art media and techniques in a small group. Club members refine their art skills and apply their creativity in individual as well as group art projects.
Financial cost: $20 for art supplies

K-Kids Club (Kiwanis)
 
Open to 4th and 5th grade students
Vision: To develop competent, capable, caring leaders though the vehicle of service
Mission: K-Kids is an international student-led organization providing members with opportunities to perform service, build character, and develop leadership. 
Financial cost: No financial requirements

Steel Drum Band
Open to 4th and 5th grade students; Auditions in August or September
Mission: To learn some fun music and perform on Jumbie Jam steel drums
Financial cost: $25

Dogwood Running (XC and Track) 
Open to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students
Mission: To learn a new sport and work as a team
Financial cost: Cost determined at the start of each season

Student Ambassadors
Open to 4th and 5th grade students, selected at the end of the previous year
Mission: To promote leadership and strengthen problem solving skills in order to create a positive school environment. They assist with school programming and participate in at least one community service activity per year. 
Financial Cost: $20 to cover t-shirt, monthly refreshments, and two celebrations per year

Journalism Club
Open to 4th and 5th grade students, selected by teacher recommendation and application
Mission: To promote the school and create content for the school website while learning about journalistic integrity and style.

Yearbook Club
Open to 4th and 5th grade students, selected by application
Mission: To preserve the history of the school while learning organizational, leadership, and digital design skills.

If you Give A Kid A Book Club
Open to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders
Mission: To read and discuss books and make new friends

Dogwood STEM Club
Open to 4th and 5th graders
Mission: To expose elementary school students to the skills and ways of solving problems important for so many future career paths. Students will jump into real life scenarios and create and test solutions.

Principal Advisory Council 
Open to 5th graders
Mission: The Dogwood Principal Advisory Council is dedicated to serving our school community by actively participating in the decision-making processes. Through collaboration and thoughtful discussion, we will strive to develop innovative plans to enhance our school environment. Our goal is to represent the voices of our peers and contribute to the continuous improvement of our school. 
Financial Cost: $25 to cover t-shirt and two celebrations per year

Notification of the option to parents that if they do not want their student to participate in the club or organization, they must provide a WRITTEN COMMUNICATION to the school that is SIGNED AND DATED stating that they do not want their student to participate in the club or organization. In order to participate in a club or organization, a parent must provide signed permission to do so.
