Zoo Trip is Educational and Fun

by student writer Connor Dunphy

Dogwood fourth graders had a field trip to the zoo to supplement their learning in science. They started their adventure at the zoo by having a fun class called terrestrial trek. They learned about animals in the northern hemisphere like sea lions and seals and polar bears. They also learned about what global warming is doing to the animals' habitats and what it’s doing to the planet.

After the class, the students got to walk around the zoo with their class and chaperones. They got to see animals, and they even got to have a few animal encounters.

“It was really fun,” fourth grader William Perkins said, “but my favorite part was when the blue tongue skink was handed out.”

The trip was interactive and exciting. Many of the students got familiar with the zoo in new ways.
