At Dogwood Elementary all grades have Fintastic Friday in the lunchroom on designated Fridays. Fintastic Friday is an event that happens in the cafeteria where there is music and dancing and lots of fun while eating pizza.
“I started Fintastic Friday as an incentive for good behavior in the cafeteria,” principal Jessica Woody said.
It is an incentive. “We get to pick out music and jam-out,” fourth grader Bramlett McGonagill said. He enjoys the festive atmosphere to end a long week.
Technology coach Joelle Dodge helps out with Fintastic Friday by holding a microphone and giving it to the students when a fun song comes on. She and music teacher Joseph Smith, who plays music by student request, make the event fun and engaging for everyone. In April, there was even a guest student DJ.
Fintastic Friday is a fun way to end the week in the lunchroom. It energizes everyone and makes Dogwood a happy place.
