Science Club Lets Students Discover

One of the most exciting extra curricular activities at Dogwood for fourth and fifth grade students is Science Club, sponsored by fifth grade teacher Thomas Bozemen, Susan Berry, and Lauren Stidham. Participants are learning about STEAM and Rube Goldberg Machines.

“I love to see my students’ light bulbs go off,” Bozeman said, “and I love to see my students think.”

Science Club is supposed to let students dig deeper and broaden their minds with interactive projects to let them learn more about STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math). Fourth graders were working on building parachutes at the most recent meeting.

The energy of the teachers as they let the students explore new concepts is evident. “I am most excited about Mr. Bozeman,” Berry said. “I like to see him in action.”

Letting students have this opportunity is a great way to broaden their interest in science well into middle school.
