The Community Enjoyed Dogwood's Storybook Trail

In the park behind Dogwood, there is a small, paved hiking trail around the playgrounds. Hillary. McIntyre, the librarian at Dogwood, and Joelle. Dodge, the tech specialist, designed and recorded a Storybook Trail. Posters with pictures and activities lined the trail. Participants could scan the QR code on each poster and listen as all of your favorite teachers here at Dogwood are telling you a wonderful story.

The Storybook Trail has been here at Dogwood for two years, but this year Ms. Macintyre and Ms. Dodge have decided to make it more interesting. “A storybook trail is essentially an interactive exploration in nature where the students get to be outside and read a story as they walk,” Mrs. McIntyre said.

They added fun activities on the back of the posters. Participants could draw a bear, learn about hibernation, and guess which animal made footprints. One activity even asked students to pretend to be an animal as they moved.

Community members and students had fun interacting with books in a new and interesting way.
