Dogwood Students Took The Stage

by student writer Madeline French

The Farmington Footlights Matilda, Jr. play was a success thanks to an awesome and very talented group of students, teachers, and parents. Students from Dogwood, Farmington, Forest Hill, and Houston Middle came together to put on a production for the community.

The cast also made new friends, which is part of the fun of theater. The cast’s costumes were also spot on! The school uniform consists of a white dress shirt, a gray folded skirt, (girls) knee high socks, a red and white tie, black shorts, (boys) a blazer and black dance shoes.

The crew of the Matilda play is also important. There is lighting, sound, costume, runners and back stage. Some of the cast members also help out with things like moving benches on stage and helping with the chalkboard.

The stage manager Mrs. Dianna Gilbert said, “ My favorite thing is being backstage with y’all.”

After the play was over, the cast had a big party! The cast took pictures together, chatted, signed shirts and playbills. They also watched the film recording of the play. Cast members will also had an opportunity to buy their costume for a keepsake.

Dogwood students enjoyed participating this year!
