School Counseling

The counseling department helps in supporting Walk/Bike to School Day by having ambassadors create posters to promote the event.  The day of the event, student ambassadors will also create inspirational messages/ pictures to help encourage students to walk as well as greet students and give high 5's.

RRW-Red Ribbon Week nationally recognizes the importance of living a drug, alcohol, and tobacco free life. During this week, we will focus on making healthy choices! Age and grade level appropriate guidance lessons will be conducted to reinforce the importance of choosing healthy lifestyles. 

Career Day (3th-5th grade) and Career on Wheels (K-2nd grade) are presentations which involves parents and people within the community sharing interesting facts about their careers.  They also emphasize how learning at school prepares them for a success in any career.  Students understand that basic skills such as listening, following directions, and working together are essential skills that promote school & career success. These events will place in the spring of the year.

Mrs. Fitchpatric sponsors the Student Ambassador program which consists of 4th and 5th grade students who were selected the previous school year. These students participate in activities that promote leadership and strengthen problem-solving skills. Overall, they represent the willingness to help and make a difference in their school and community.   

Mrs. Fernandez is the Coordinator of the Terrific Kids program at Dogwood and Farmington Elementary Schools. Terrific Kids is sponsored by The Kiwanis Club of Germantown. Ceremonies are held five times each school year to recognize students who have been nominated by their teacher. Students who that are "TERRIFIC" are: Thoughtful, Enthusiastic, Respectful, Responsible, Inquisitive, Friendly, Inclusive, and Capable. These students may not always have the highest grades in the class; however, they do go above and beyond to demonstrate the character traits that are listed above.
