Dogwood’s Got Talent Shines Bright with a Night of Student Stars

Dogwood Elementary School was transformed into a dazzling showcase of talent and creativity for the annual “Dogwood’s Got Talent” event. From the moment guests stepped into the building, they were immersed in a star-studded experience. Glittering stars hung from the ceiling, performer posters lined the walls, and soft lighting paired with colorful disco pathways guided families toward the cafeteria, setting the tone for an unforgettable evening.

Inside, the cafeteria had been completely reimagined as a performance venue. Tables were cleared away and replaced with rows of chairs facing a beautifully decorated stage. Balloons, stars, and streamers framed the curtains, while stage lights shone on the stage, highlighting the video backdrop of the performers. 

Students competed in two categories: Kindergarten through 2nd grade and 3rd through 5th grade. The show featured an impressive range of acts, including magicians, comedians, singers, instrumentalists, and dancers. Each performance reflected the courage, creativity, and dedication of Dogwood’s young performers.

In the K–2 division, Annalise Chu earned 1st place with a piano performance, followed by Garner and Gabby Guynes in 2nd place for their dance routine. Dominic Dyachenko took 3rd place with a cello performance. In the 3–5 division, Charlotte Green claimed 1st place with a tap dance, while Ryan Aylward’s comedy act earned 2nd place, and Kal Chinniah took 3rd place with a piano performance. The People’s Choice award went to Lyla Valle for her vocal performance.

Members of the Deep Blue Drama Club at Dogwood performed for the first time as special entertainment after the main show. 

The event was organized by teachers Karen Cunningham and Brady Veach, with Donna Jones leading the decorations. They were supported by a dedicated committee of staff members who worked together to create a memorable and meaningful experience for all involved.

“Dogwood’s Got Talent” was more than just a competition—it was a celebration of student expression, confidence, and community. The evening highlighted the incredible talents within the school and provided students with a chance to shine brightly in front of a supportive audience.
